Synthesize information in your own words then cite the original author
Read first then summarize information in your own words without looking at the original work
When in doubt cite
Read your work and after each thought ask yourself:
Who thought that?
Where did I learn that?
Who said this?
Combine citations to strengthen your points. If you have multiple resources supporting your statements cite those sources together to strengthen and support your synthesis
Do not use someone else's exact words
Paraphrase and synthesize the original source information avoid using direct quotes unless necessary
Avoid idea plagiarism by citing the source of the original idea
