Caldecott Medal Award

Awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children. Named after nineteenth-century English illustrator Randolph Caldecott, this award recognizes excellence in visual storytelling.

Newberry Medal Award

The first and most prestigious award for children's literature in the United States, presented annually by the Association for Library Service to Children to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children. Named after eighteenth-century British bookseller John Newbery, this award celebrates outstanding writing in children's books.

Coretta Scott King Award

The Coretta Scott King Award is an annual award presented by the American Library Association that honors African American authors and illustrators of outstanding books for children and young adults that demonstrate an appreciation of African American culture and universal human values. Established in 1969, the award commemorates the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his wife, Coretta Scott King, for their dedication to peace and social justice.
