This guide is designed to help you find academic sources for your English 1010 papers, as well as assist you in correctly citing your sources in MLA style.

Citing Sources

Three Style Guide Manuals

Citing Sources in MLA Style

  • Start Smart by using RefWorks to import your references from the article databases that you search

  • Use Write-n-Cite within Word to create in-text citations along with your references  (NOTE: Write-n-Cite is a RefWorks plug-in)

  • Use the MLA style help links covering in-text citations, list of references, manuscript format, and sample research paper

Additional MLA Style Assistance Needed?

It is sometimes necessary to consult the official print Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association.  Below is a link to where the Manual is located in the APSU Library.

Also, additional useful information is available at the Purdue University OWL website listed below.

Start Smart - Use RefWorks

Spending the necessary time to learn RefWorks on the front-end will save you hours of work later!

Simply stated, RefWorks creates a near-perfect MLA-style References page from the Library database citations that you import while researching a topic.  You only need follow-up in making minor adjustments.

Additionally, the Write-n-Cite plug-in allows you to easily format your in-text citations using your imported references as you word-process your paper in Word.
