Try These First!
Below is a topic database, general and subject-specific encyclopedias, and an article database with which to begin your research.
Start by searching the topic database, CQ Researcher plus Archive (look to the left), which covers current interest topics. CQ Researcher provides background about your topic, as well as information about the current situation and future outlook.
Next, if needed, look up terms (potential search keywords) and check out the facts in a more general encyclopedia, such as World Book. Also, consider using subject-specific encyclopedias included in the Oxford Digital Reference Shelf and the Gale Virtual Reference Library.
After taking the steps above, you know more about your topic, including potential search keywords. Now you are ready to search the article database, Academic Search Premier, using keywords that will result in journal articles on most topics.
